What are Pedigree Comics?

BREAKING NEWS

WELCOME!

Welcome to Comic Book Pedigrees, the first and only website dedicated to pedigreed comic books! Here, CBP brings you up to date on everything going on in the world of pedigrees, including the latest news on newly discovered collections, brand new offerings in our sale section, and the latest update on our forthcoming book on the greatest Golden and Silver a collections ever discovered.

THE CRIPPEN "D" COLLECTION

The second half of this year is going to be one of the most exciting for pedigreed comics in a long time. Quite possibly the second largest pedigreed collection of Golden Age comics ever assembled is being offered for sale in August. The Davis Crippen collection, or what collectors have affectionately called the "D" copies for nearly 15 years, numbers almost 11,000 books and spans the entire Golden and Atomic Age, from 1939 to the mid '50s. Besides the Mile Highs, few, if any pedigreed collections can match the width and Crippen collection. The entire accumulation is being offered via public auction, another first, because collections of this caliber are usually assimilated quickly and quietly into the inventories of a few select, well-connected dealers and collectors.

THE CENTRAL VALLEY COLLECTION

As if the Crippen collection is not enough to shock your system, there is actually a second, brand new pedigree collection being introduced at San Diego Comic Con this month. It's name is the Central Valley Collection, which represents where the original owner bought and stored his books in California. This accumulation heralds from the early Golden Age, and exhibits some of the freshest, whitest pages and richest colors we've ever seen. It's not crazy to compare them to the San Francisco collection (notorious for blinding white pages) because they're that fresh. Many great books are represented, such as Batman #2-5, Superman #4-16, Fantastic Comics #3, and early Four Color and Single Series.

These books are being presented to the public for the first time here on the CBP website. Brian Peets, owner of A-1 Comics and the purchaser of this amazing collection will have many of them on display at his booth in San Diego the weekend of July 20-23. Almost the entire collection will be CGC graded, but for your viewing pleasure we have posted scans of every book raw. CGC grades will be added as they come in.

THE FUTURE ...

There's more to come. Plenty more. CBP will be exclusively offering the remaining Don Rosa pedigree collection here on the website, and only here. And an incredible cache of thousands of Mile Highs, locked away in a private collection for many years, will be offered to the public later this year. Details will follow shortly.

We've got very exciting plans for this website, so make sure you sign up for our newsletters, as well as updates on new collections and the forthcoming book on pedigree comics.
