This particular piece of art
barely survived the ravages of Hurricane Katrina last year.
After sitting underwater for a period of time, heavy amounts
of dirt and grime had settled onto the page. While
the cleaning process was more intricate than the usual
jobs we do, the result speaks for
itself. |
In addition to comic books, we also work on original art
when it is necessary. The motives behind restoration or
conservation on art is very different from comics. Because
each piece of art is unique, there is very little resistance
to restoration in terms of value.
Art collectors tend to be much more forgiving for
particular defects on a piece, especially if the so-called
defects are part of the creation process. Tape and glue
holding stats in place, white-out, doodling or writing in
the margins or on the backside, even clipped corners; these
things tend to be left alone when our services are
considered.
What we offer is a basic cleaning and pressing service that
removes creases, folds, yellowing, and diminishes stains.
The art will "pop" after its revival, as it returns to the
fresh state it was once in. For extreme cases, like the
survivors of Hurricane Katrina pictured here, this
service can work wonders. It can remove dirt and grime
embedded deep within the paper fibers, and allowing the art
piece to finally lay flat once again.

A typical job that shows how a
piece of art can "pop" after our clean and press service is
used. Notice the whiter margins and removal of light
dirt and stains. |
We also offer stat replacements for those pieces of art that
have lost a few parts along the way. Prices start at $50 per
cleaning, and they depend on the extent of work required.
